Services & Fees
Every pet and situation is unique. Before any appointment is confirmed, you will be provided you with a clear estimate for services so that you can make an informed and comfortable decision. There are no surprise costs—just compassionate, transparent care tailored to your needs. Payment is due at time of service and acceptable forms of payment include cash, check or credit/debit card.
Consultation and Euthanasia
In-Home Euthanasia – $500 (cats, dogs), $425 (exotic pets)
This visit includes a brief physical exam to confirm that humane euthanasia is appropriate. Sedation is administered first to ensure comfort and relaxation. Once the pet is peacefully sedated, a final injection is given to allow for a gentle and dignified passing. Transport will be arranged to either Final Gift Pet Crematorium or Petrichor Aquamation—trusted partners who provide dignified, respectful aftercare, including environmentally responsible options.
A clay paw print impression and lock of fur can be provided as keepsakes, if desired.
Appointments typically last approximately 30-45 minutes.
For Anxious or Reactive Pets:
If a pet has a history of anxiety, aggression, or fear of new people, pre-visit sedation or anxiety medication can be arranged to ensure a smoother experience for all involved.
In-Home Palliative Care – $400 (initial visit), $350 (follow-up visits)
This service is for pets with previously diagnosed, end-stage conditions where the focus is on maintaining comfort and quality of life at home.
A Zen Veterinary doctor will perform a physical exam, review the current disease process, discuss what to expect as it progresses, and offer options to support comfort and well-being.
Please Note:
Medications prescribed during the visit incur additional fees. We keep a small supply of dispensable medications that I strive to price very fairly and if longer-term medications are required then these can be filled though Koala Pharmacy (an online pet pharmacy that we collaborate with)
Appointments typically last approximately 30-45 minutes, follow-up appointments last 30 minutes or less
Virtual Quality of Life Consultation – $75
A 15 minute phone or video consultation to discuss the pet’s current health and behavior. Based on this discussion, guidance will be provided regarding appropriate next steps—whether that includes further palliative support, coordination with the primary veterinarian, or humane euthanasia.
Please Note: diagnoses and prescriptions cannot be provided during this virtual appointment.
After-Death Home Pickup & Transport – $450
For pets who have passed away at home or in cases where the family is unable to manage transport, Zen Veterinary can provide after-death care.
The pet will be respectfully placed in a Euthabag burial/transport shroud, and keepsakes such as a clay paw print and lock of fur can be collected, if desired.
Transport will be arranged to either Final Gift Pet Crematorium or Petrichor Aquamation—trusted partners who provide dignified, respectful aftercare, including environmentally responsible options.
Appointments typically last approximately 30 minutes.
Aftercare Services (cremation and aquamation)
ZenVeterinary is proud to collaborate with two trusted aftercare partners: Final Gift Pet Crematorium and Petrichor Aquamation. Both organizations share our commitment to respectful, dignified care. Petrichor offers aquamation—a gentle, water-based alternative to flame cremation—for families seeking a more environmentally responsible option.
Pet families may choose from the following aftercare options:
Private Flame Cremation (Final Gift): Your pet is cremated alone. There are no other pets with your pet during this process: this is a true private process with extremely minimal to no risk of remains being intermixed with those of other pets. Ashes are returned in a standard urn or memorial vessel of your choice. Clay paw print mementos are also available at no additional charge.
Individual (Partitioned) Aquamation (Petrichor): Your pet is aquamated in a dedicated partitioned space within a larger chamber. This process is respectful and designed to maintain separation between pets, though it is not the same as true private cremation/aquamation. While the risk of intermixing of pet remains is very minimal, there is still some risk for this potentially happening given the reality of partitioned aftercare. Ashes are returned in an aesthetically appealing bamboo urn and you recieve an elegant, 3-d printed paw print.
Private Aquamation (Petrichor): For families who desire aquamation with no other pets present, a private cycle can be arranged. Due to the nature of this process, it involves substantially higher costs and is not offered as a routine option. With dedicated private aquamation (like dedicated private flame-based cremation) there are no other pets with your pet during this process and therefore this is a true private process with extremely minimal to zero risk of your pet’s remains being intermingled with those of other pets. Ashes are returned in an aesthetically appealing bamboo urn and you recieve an elegant, 3-d printed paw print.
Communal Cremation or Aquamation: Your pet is cared for alongside other pets, and ashes are not returned. With communal aquamation you receive an elegant, 3-d printed paw print. With communal cremation you receive clay paw print mementos at no additional charge.
All pets are placed in a Euthabag burial/transport shroud as part of ZenVeterinary’s commitment to dignity and respect throughout the aftercare process.
Aftercare fees are based on your pet’s weight category:
*please note that for all dogs weighing 100lbs or more there is an additional $250 fee for life/transport assistance to either Final Gift or Petrichor’s facility from your home.
